Pool, Baseball, Camping…All in a Summers Week

IMG_0751It was a hot week, but that did not keep us down.  Silas and Laura joined some friends at a water park/pool at the Y in Fishers several times this last week.  Silas liked the big pool better than the frigged, zero entry pool.  He even fell asleep while Laura held him in the big pool the second day.  They were quick trips just about an hour in the morning before it got too hot and to keep Silas from getting too much sun exposure.  He is covered though with swim shorts, a UV50 shirt, UV swim hat, and his sunglasses.  It was a good way to cool down.

Friday we headed up to Albion and Ft. Wayne. In the afternoon, we went to Chain O’Lakes State Park to set up for our first camping trip with Silas. Then we went to watch the Ft. Wayne TinCaps (minor league baseball) for EP & DRG company outing (Jarrett’s work). It was a nice set up with picnic tables in the right outfield all reserved and all you can eat dinner & drinks.  We had a good time chatting and catching a few plays.  Silas was loved on by some of the co-workers and one of the owners wives (Naomi). She carried him around as she met up with a lot of the employees and her friends. It was very loud at points, but Silas didn’t seem to mind and even took a nap. We got back to the campsite pretty late.  Our friends had arrived and finished setting up.  We did S’mores and went to bed.

Silas slept well each night and did well with naps on Saturday. We went on one big HOT hike on Saturday morning, of which Silas slept through in the carrier with Laura. It took everything out of everyone even though it was not a very rugged or exciting hike. Not the best hiking trails we’ve done, but it did have sweet rewards.  Some of us took a few stops along the path to enjoy the ripe black raspberries. That afternoon we played some cards and the girls checked out the beach on one of the “lakes.” The water was a perfect temperature…but pretty disgusting with slimy sand and seaweed on the bottom and all kids of gross floaties in the water.  You could only see a few inches through the water.  We did not stay long and took showers after that experience.  Sunday we packed up and headed home early. Silas fell asleep in his screened-in bouncy seat playing while we packed.

It was a fun week and makes us look forward to many more fun summer days and trips in our future as a family.
